Together, you and your counsellor will sift through the brushstrokes of experiences, seeking the threads of meaning. With each session, the once-disjointed pieces begin to coalesce, forming a clearer picture of healing, direction and purpose, as if the artist within is finally finding the right palette to express a vibrant, intentional masterpiece.

How can we empower children to say no to bullying and effectively manage interactions with bullies? The counsellor will focus on building self-esteem and confidence, equipping children with strategies to detach from difficult situations. By meeting each child's needs with love and understanding, we explore their unique love language - be it physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, or gifts. Recognising their love language helps children communicate and express themselves more effectively. Through counselling, children learn resilience, how to address their emotions, and practical steps to take if they experience bullying, fostering a supportive environment for their growth.
Counselling for adults experiencing workplace bullying provides a supportive environment where individuals can focus on themselves and their well-being. In these sessions, clients work to develop self-esteem and cultivate positive affirmations about their unique qualities and talents. Through guided discussions and reflective exercises, they learn to recognise their strengths, which can help counteract the negative impact of bullying. The Counsellor may introduce strategies for setting boundaries, asserting themselves, and effectively communicating their needs in the workplace. By fostering a sense of empowerment and self-worth, counselling helps adults not only cope with the effects of bullying but also thrive in their professional lives.

By reviewing these options, clients can uncover potential career paths that align with their passions and heart desires. The counsellor assists in developing actionable plans to address any obstacles they may face, whether through skill development, networking, or further education. This holistic approach empowers clients to navigate their career change with confidence and clarity.

During a session with Creating New Lifestyles, we’ll work together through a variety of therapeutic approaches to help you on your journey towards personal growth and healing. One method that can be very successful is strength-based therapy, which focuses on identifying and harnessing your inherent strengths and resources. This approach empowers you by shifting our attention from problems to possibilities, fostering a more positive outlook on what you have achieved in the past and the setting of goals to achieve more to create a new you and a new lifestyle.
Additionally, we’ll incorporate focus therapies, including solution-focused therapy, where we identify specific goals and solutions rather than dwelling on past issues. This practical method helps you envision a preferred future and recognise the steps/goals needed to get there for a better future. I also employ Narrative Therapy, which allows you to reframe your life story, helping you separate your identity from your challenges. This empowers you to create a new narrative that reflects your values and aspirations. Together, these therapies offer diverse and empowering tools to support your personal development and healing.

Hi. My name is Cherrie and I'll be your Counsellor.
I have a diverse background with experience in sales, employment services, aged care, in-home care, and customer service. My qualifications include a Diploma in Counselling, a Bachelor of Counselling, and an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision.
My passion for helping clients overcome their barriers has inspired me to expand my counseling services. I enjoy working with children, young people and adults supporting them in developing healthy self-esteem and equipping them with skills to prevent bullying. Additionally, I provide support to families dealing with grief and loss, whether it involves parental separation, the impact of working away, death, divorce, or the loss of a beloved pet.
I also have a passion for supporting and assisting families and friends struggling through issues related to alcohol and substance abuse and dependence.
Everyone has a story that deserves to be listened to without interruptions or unsolicited advice. It’s essential for individuals to have someone who actively listens and understands the challenges of opening up in a safe environment.
My unique and quirky style, combined with an intuitive connection with clients, allows me to help clients discover achievable goals for those seeking change. I invite clients to explore a range of therapies, strategies and activities tailored to their needs. Through this process, clients can feel empowered to achieve their healing outcomes, building resilience and inner strength along the way. This journey enhances their ability to communicate effectively, make healthy choices, and establish boundaries in their lives, creating the lifestyle they desire.
The name Creating New Lifestyles was inspired by my daughter, who recognised how my work in counselling empowers clients to redefine their lives and build healthier, more fulfilling paths forward. I chose this logo to symbolise the personal and transformative journey we embark on together in therapy. By incorporating my own painting, I’ve created a unique and personal representation of my journey toward building Creating New Lifestyles - a concept deeply rooted in my own personal growth and overcoming barriers to become the person I strive to be. This artwork reflects not only my creative side but also my dedication to supporting clients in therapy, helping them achieve their goals and rediscover themselves in their own recovery journeys.
